Data movement
9 September 2008Much as data and techniques filtered out of our military’s experience in Vietnam, it’s just a matter of time before the things we’re learning on the Afghanistan and Iraq battlefields reach civilian EMS. This instructional video on the IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit, not an Apple product–but as they say, “i” is the new “e”) gives a glimpse of what the future of street trauma care might very well represent. I’m already feeling less afraid of field tourniquet use (although with EMS being my side project now, I can’t remember the last time I had an EMS patient that was bleeding at all, let alone bleeding badly enough to need a tourniquet).
Random aside: I do wish that Carl Weathers was actually running for President.
