Schroedinger’s patient
24 February 2009For you physics geeks who know of the famous “Schroedinger’s cat” thought experiment, you’ll probably appreciate how similar it is to being called to a “check on the welfare.” Think about it: while you are outside the house, waiting for access, the patient is both dead and alive, but will be one or the other when you finally get inside the house. Now that I really think about it, though, it’s more complex than that, because there may not be a patient at all.
Of course, I only mention this out of the fantasy that somewhere out there is an EMS person (other than my wife) who would chuckle at some of my geek jokes. They exist, I’m sure, just not with any consistency anywhere I’ve ever worked.
