Moving on

18 July 2009

It’s not at all uncommon for someone to leave EMS and move into a different healthcare job:  RN, PA, MD/DO.  (In fact, my wife is working on such a transition.)  Many of these professions’ schools have a competitive admissions process, but all give a different weight to prior healthcare experience.  Some of them are downright particular about what they’ll accept:

  • emergency medical technician doing more than patient transfer

Perhaps the most ironic thing about this is that this PA program requires a year of full-time healthcare work, while I don’t know of a single medical school that does.
